I joined Mayflower Elementary School in August of 2014 as a first year teacher. This is my third year teaching 3rd grade at Mayflower Elementary. I currently teach literacy (reading and writing) and social studies.
I substitute taught for three years while going back to school to obtain my teaching license. After beoming a licensed teacher, I was able to complete several long term sub positions in kindergarten through 2nd grades. Before going back to school to enter the education field, I worked at Acxiom Corporation for over 11 years.
I have been married to my husband, Curt, for 16 years. We have one son, John Tyler, who is 13 years old and in 7th grade. We love to compete in local and national archery competitions as a family. Archery has been a part of our lives for most of John Tyler’s life, and we love spending that time together on the archery range. We also enjoy traveling, antiquing, fishing, hunting, and swimming.
When I am not at school, I enjoy archery and reading. Both activities are very relaxing, but one involves time with my family and friends, and the other allows me time to myself. During the summer, I spend most of my days by the pool reading both books for my enjoyment, and books that I think my students may like.
